Hi, I’m Dr. Andy Howard, America’s Visionary Optometrist. I help people who believe there’s a clearer way to see our beautiful world – people who know vision is life’s most precious and fragile gift. Most of these people want help making it happen and understanding what to do next.
What I Do
I show people how to get exactly what they want, which is a more beautiful visual lifestyle. Specifically, they want clear comfortable vision and healthy eyes in order to bring more beauty into their lives. They want to preserve and enhance their vision today so they can enjoy and celebrate the world’s beauty for a lifetime.
Over the past two decades, I’ve taught tens of thousands of people to live the visual lifestyle. You can find out more about what that means on my Start Here page. I’ve also helped other eye doctors learn my techniques so they can help their patients like I do.
As a youth, I struggled choosing a career path because I love both the arts and the sciences. I chose the sciences and received a degree in biology with honors from Virginia Tech in 1992. I was fascinated with vision, and went on to graduate with honors from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. As it turns out, helping people live the visual lifestyle has been a very creative endeavor. So I’m able to enjoy both the arts and sciences every day. I am one blessed guy.
I own LaFollette Eye Clinic with Dr. Elizabeth Howard, my incredibly beautiful and talented wife. She’s also an accomplished optometrist. Together, we’ve built a nationally recognized multi-doctor eye clinic that has received many awards. Recently, our clinic was named one of America’s Finest Optical Retailers by INVISION Magazine. We also placed in Review of Optometry’s 2015 Office Design Contest.
I make regular television appearances to talk about eyes, vision, and the beauty of our world. And speaking of beauty, LaFollette Eye Clinic sponsors the visual arts in our community and showcases local art on our walls.
When I’m not helping people who dream of a beautifully clearer world, I can be found working out, reading, enjoying the great outdoors, and obsessing over art. I could be accused (rightly) of finding the art in – well, in everything!
Liz and I have two fantastic teenagers. Our son and daughter excel at many things, not the least of which is keeping us real. We live in an amazing part of the world – the mountains of East Tennessee. The dog and cat keep life spicy. As Christians, we follow Jesus Christ. Our faith keeps us grounded and honestly offers us more beauty than anything I could offer people myself.
